Have you watched the anime Citrus? Or the beautifully stunning Bloom Into You? Japan is a highly conservative country with a declining population problem, and so has plenty of reason to not support gays as they very well couldn’t procreate with their partners but despite that it still has and loves shows plenty of “respect” for the gay community. Its also a country known for weird fetishes and not afraid to touch on the more taboo subjects which ironicly is done out of a need to break conservative rules and tradition. Just watching porn is a much bigger taboo on moral principle than the U.S. and they still produce it. If you’re gonna fall into degeneracy might as well see hit the bottom and then start digging it deeper into the darkness.
